NikNak Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 A topic to discuss over diner........ if muslims want to wear the veil, would it be ok for Jack Straw to conduct his parliamentary surgeries through his letter box..? :D just a thought........ :D
suzuki91 Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 i dont think i have seen a veil wearer driving? hope they know better?
MadBaz Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 The way I see it, and I know I'm probably outspoken, if they want to live here and be accepted by the majority of the community the the niqab should be removed. For those reading this please look here: niqab resource About 18 years ago I went with a group to Dubai, cycling, some of the women in our group were whipped outside the airport because they'ed arrived wearing lycra shorts. They can't have it all there way, and everywhere, surely. As for the teaching assistant who was suspended, I could hardly understand her on TV last night let alone a group of raucous children. Just my point of view.
Guest BagPuss Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Send them all back to where they come from simple! If they don't play by our rules then they can F**k off. This country is becoming to soft on anyone who isn't English. I don't pay my taxes to keep others! Here ya go!Picture of the year! teresa Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 i agree with bagpuss ......... if we visit there country we have to abide by their rules ........... why cant they do what we expect of them heremy fella has also just bought up a good point the government were quick enough to tell our kids to stop wearing hoodies why cant they do the same to muslims and their niqab i know this is a slight deviation but my fella is also a carp fisherman muslims have been seen round the waters here catching the carp to eat... :D send em home
mumof4 Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Hmm..religious debates are always fraught with difficulties..wars have begun over it. I can understand why they wear it and it is part of their culture/religion.WE should respect each others religion and not impose our own on other peoples. In other parts of the world it is deemed umseemly to show various parts of the body like we do everyday over here..legs, arms. topless beaches, naturism... WE should respect the country we are in and their own values..just because here we do what we like..does not mean we should make other beliefs conform to our own. I think each culture should respect the other.... our government takes things too far though. You have certain councils banning christmas cards etc just in case they offend someone who is not a christian..its wrong...if we respected other cultures and beliefs then i believe the world would be a better place. Who are we to say what another culture should wear?..yes i know in other countries women have to cover up..but to them to see flesh on show is offensive to both the male and female population. Take a man who has a trophy wife hanging on his arm..shes gorgeous..legs up to her armpits..etc....do you honestly think he will confident that she will never stray because of the attention lavished on her?... other cultures yes have beliefs and ways that we find hard to understand,,what woman would want to be so dressed that only her eyes are revealed..but that is their way..who are we to make her go against her beliefs and reveal herself?,,how would dhe feel having to show herself?..especially if she is happy the way she is?..i would imagine that would equate to forcing a woman to strip in the middle of a street and walk naked through it..maybe that is a bit strong...but i see it that way. On the other hand..they are in our country and should respect our ways and beliefs the same way we respect theirs...but we are not having to strip..we are being made to cover up which i believe is a hell of a lot easier to do then making someone take off what they believe is righ and just. anyway..im not going to read this through and edit it as i have written exactly how i think and believe.
Guest BagPuss Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Trouble is we LOST our country years ago and we soon becoming the minority! They believe this is THEIR country and they can get away with everything! That teacher won
mumof4 Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 the government is the one at fault here..no one else!..
Guest BagPuss Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 the government is the one at fault here..no one else!.. Yeah but everyone else is supposed to just accept it and take it up the arse! It doesn't matter who's voted in they'll always f**k this country up even more that the last goverment! No other country has this much shit!
mumof4 Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 the government is the one at fault here..no one else!.. Yeah but everyone else is supposed to just accept it and take it up the arse! It doesn't matter who's voted in they'll always f**k this country up even more that the last goverment! No other country has this much shit! Please for one , there is no need to swear. I can understand that political/religious debates cause very strong feelings in people....but i believe the government is the one to blame for the softly approach they have....i see it it first hand here in the Forces where ethnic minority are the priority in recruitment..and are treated with kid gloves in case they scream racism.., this in turn induces resentment in the average white british person who is native to this country serving in the forces, but it is the government that has made it this way....i believe the government in its awful way of thinking is in itself induceing resentment to the ethnic communitys..of course the communitys realiseing this will exploit the system..but it is the government that put that system there!. An example for you...where we used to be based in scotland, there was an asian lad who was serving...if someone mentioned the word pakki....or even ordered him to do something..he would scream racism..This has been allowed to happen because of the government! What about the native british people who are being discriminated against in joining the police force because the government has set targets for them to recruit a certain amount of ethnic groups into the police force..why is this allowed to happen..the government yet again!!!!!!!!!!! So ..i believe..it is not the communities that are at fault..it is the government. If you arent happy then take it up with your MP..what else are they there for but to listenn to their constituants? please everyone..let us not all fall out over this debate..we all have our own ways of thinking and beliefs.

Bigjeeze Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 How many of you have ever gone to see your MP (of whatever flavour) and told them what you want? Our MP's vote the way they want to not the way we want them to. I agree with the death penalty - and from just talking to people I know the percentage that does is probably in the region of 85 -90% Yet our MP's are allowed a conscience vote ! Why don't they do as we want? GO TELL THEM! It is not the party in power it is the electorate's fault - we keep on voting (or not) for the same idiots uusually based on our family traditions - Think before you Vote!!
Guest MATT jr Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 send them back and get Richard branson as Prime minister. MJR
katman Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 What happens in a school with multiple veil wearing teachers ??? Do they have a number or name on the front and back like footballers so you know which teacher is which ?

Hello Bigjeeze, The death penalty is not a deterent to crime, it has never worked and never will.
Bigjeeze Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Hello Bigjeeze, The death penalty is not a deterent to crime, it has never worked and never will. Hi Seacam - I never said it was a deterrent - I just said that a large proportion of the people in this country want it - but that our MP's are for some reason of the opinon that they are better suited to make that decision for us - instead of a democratic decision we have an autocratic one. I used this as an example.

Hello Bigjeeze, You wrote " I agree with the death penalty ", I assumed if you belive in a form of punishment you do so because of it's deterent factor otherwise agreeing with a form of punishment make no sense.
Guest seacam Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Hello Radio Two, Whilist I understand fully peolple's emotions of the DP, I'm afraid it wouldn't empty our prisons, it won't prevent murder, rape, child sex crimes and so on.
